Bill Evans Trio “Waltz for Debby” LP

Waltz for Debby puts the focus on lyrical piano harmony, conversational bass-and-drums interplay, and subtle dynamics.

• Evans, Scott LaFaro, and Paul Motian were recorded live at the Village Vanguard during the same celebrated engagement that produced Sunday at the Village Vanguard.
• The trio's interplay is unusually conversational, with LaFaro's bass often functioning as a melodic partner rather than simple accompaniment.
• The album became one of the defining documents of modern piano-trio performance.

For fans of Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian, and Keith Jarrett.
