A rediscovered Puerto Rican punk and new wave album originally issued on the band's Surgeon label.
Raw rhythms and prominent Minimoog parts connect punk urgency with adventurous keyboard-led arrangements.
Munster's reissue includes previously unseen photographs and historical notes.
For fans of: early synth-driven punk, The Stranglers, and underground new wave.
Brain Damage documents a distinctive strand of Caribbean underground rock. The MD's bring punchy, unpolished energy to songs that draw from punk, proto-hardcore, and new wave, with the Minimoog giving the music a bright, unusual edge. Catchy vocal lines and varied rhythms keep the set direct and lively.
The album's homemade character is part of its appeal: guitars and synthesizer push against each other, and the performances preserve the excitement of a band creating its own space outside the main punk centers. This Munster reissue makes an overlooked regional document available to listeners interested in punk's international and less familiar histories.
