Sunwatchers "Music Is Victory Over Time" LP

• The New York quartet's fifth album combines jazz improvisation, psychedelia, repetition, and punk energy.
• Jeff Tobias's saxophone and Jim McHugh's guitar lead a rhythm section of Peter Kerlin and Jason Robira.
• Recorded at John Dwyer's Discount Mirrors studio with engineer Eric Bauer.

For fans of: Sonny Sharrock, Albert Ayler, and motorik psychedelic rock.

Sunwatchers build music from the friction between a strong repeating phrase and an ensemble ready to push it somewhere new. Music Is Victory Over Time captures that approach with a full, vivid sound: saxophone lines flare over muscular rhythms while guitars and keyboards add heat, shimmer, and unexpected angles.

"World People" moves from a compact melodic figure into an exuberant collective surge. "Foams" opens up a more spacious landscape, and "Song for the Gone" closes with a tender acknowledgment of loss. The album gives the band's political and communal spirit an instrumental language that can feel joyous, searching, and defiant within the same piece.
