New Haven quartet joins Dan Greene's songwriting with Kryssi Battalene's exploratory lead guitar.
Balances concise, ragged melodies with improvised passages and expansive distortion.
Includes "I Wanna See the Sun," "Then the Moon," and the instrumental "Staggering with a Lantern."
For fans of: Crazy Horse, Major Stars, and Japanese psychedelic guitar rock.
World What World finds Mountain Movers moving between weathered songs and open-ended guitar exploration. Greene's surreal stories give the album a human center, while Battalene's playing stretches the arrangements into long, searching lines. Rick Omonte and Ross Menze keep the music grounded as the guitars gather heat and drift outward.
The interplay feels unhurried and instinctive. "Then the Moon" turns a lilting song into a searing guitar passage, and "Staggering with a Lantern" gives the players room to develop an instrumental conversation. Fuzz, melancholy, and stubbornly memorable hooks sit together throughout this absorbing psychedelic rock record.
