Miles Davis “On the Corner” (180g) LP

On the Corner puts the focus on trumpet-led modern jazz, from hard bop and modal playing to orchestral and electric experimentation.

• Davis layers trumpet over electric keyboards, guitars, bass, tabla, percussion, and tightly repeated funk figures.
• The dense studio construction favors groove and texture over conventional solo order, drawing on funk, rock, and non-Western rhythmic ideas.
• Initially divisive, the album was later embraced as a major influence on jazz-funk, post-punk, electronic music, and hip-hop production.

For fans of John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter.
