Dave Brubeck Quartet “Time Out” (Blue Vinyl) LP

Time Out puts the focus on jazz, soul, and blues-rooted musicianship with strong ensemble interplay.

• Dave Brubeck, Paul Desmond, Eugene Wright, and Joe Morello use unusual meters without sacrificing melody or swing.
• “Take Five” spotlights Desmond's alto saxophone over Morello's 5/4 groove, while “Blue Rondo à la Turk” plays with 9/8 groupings.
• The album turned rhythmic experimentation into a mainstream success and remains Brubeck's best-known recording.

For fans of classic jazz, soul, and blues catalog staples.
