Bill Evans Trio “Sunday at the Village Vanguard” LP

Sunday at the Village Vanguard puts the focus on lyrical piano harmony, conversational bass-and-drums interplay, and subtle dynamics.

• Bill Evans, bassist Scott LaFaro, and drummer Paul Motian redefine the piano trio as an equal conversation rather than piano with accompaniment.
• LaFaro's melodic bass work is central to pieces such as “Gloria's Step,” recorded just days before his death.
• The Village Vanguard recordings are considered among the most influential piano-trio performances in jazz.

For fans of Scott LaFaro, Paul Motian, and Keith Jarrett.
