For fans of: Yellow Magic Orchestra, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and adventurous Japanese pop.
Tadaima. captures Akiko Yano working closely with the musicians of Yellow Magic Orchestra while retaining her unmistakable voice and piano style. The album combines sophisticated pop writing with lively electronic detail, moving between Japanese and English lyrics and arrangements full of rhythmic surprise.
"Harusaki Kobeni" provides one of its most immediate melodies, while "Taiyo no Onara" turns texts written by children into a series of short, imaginative pieces. Wewantsounds' reissue presents a particularly inventive chapter of Yano's catalog, where warmth, humor, and curiosity give the studio experimentation an approachable human center.
